High end air filtration systems now in Dr Tatras downtown Victoria dental office

DO YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR DENTAL APPOINTMENT?

The announcement for the cancellation of all non-essential oral health care is targeted towards dental offices where the Covid-19 pandemic is currently out of control, which does not include Vancouver Island at this time. If you have a dental appointment booked with Dr. Sunny Tatra in downtown Victoria you do not need to cancel or reschedule unless you are feeling unwell. Dr. Tatra has made every effort possible to ensure the health and safety of his patients and dental staff. Dr. Tatra’s office has recently undergone a series of upgrades totalling over $19,000.00 bringing in 10 new top-of-the-line air filtration systems to ensure the cleanest air possible, upon your visit you will now see the staff wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Feel free to take a look at the photo gallery or call us should you have any questions or concerns.

Our 4 newest surgically clean air units have 6 levels of filtration including UV.

Believe it or not, we’ve been having a little fun with preparing to re-open (in safe ways)

At our office, we’ve been doing everything we can to swiftly return to normal, while also following strict health and safety protocols, and we’ve been having a little bit of fun while doing it! Prelim isolation of ops … more to be refined tomorrow

Installing Aeramax DX55 air purifiers … P100 equivalent and have 6 units … each good for 400 sq ft and with six we have filtration for 2400 sq ft and we are just under 1700 sq ft and the air will get filtered 5x per hour.

We’ve always kept our offices hygenic and clean, but by the time we’re done, we’ll almost be better than being outside in the fresh air!

Update and New Reminder Policy

Hello Everyone,

The health and safety of all our patients and dental team is our top priority. The COVID-19 safety information changes week by week, so we will do our best to keep you informed of when we will re-open based on recommendations by the Minister of Health and the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.

We have always followed stringent infection control protocols, and now we have implemented additional measures that you will observe on your future visits. We are currently being fitted with P-100 masks to be worn during treatment, and have installed five P-100 air filtration units. These are certified to filter out 99.9% of viruses.

If you have a dental emergency and are in pain or have severe swelling and cannot manage at home with over-the-counter medications, please call Dr. Tatra at 250-588-5337 and leave a message. He will call you back as quickly as he is able.

When we are able to begin treatment you will be notified. We will be starting with those who have experienced an emergency first. Once we have full clearance to return to regular treatment and hygiene we will let you know.

Please note this change in how we remind you of appointments. We no longer have an automatic system for text or email. In the future, we will manually send one email or, for those who do not have an email address listed with us, we will make one phone call. Your appointment will be considered to be confirmed when you book it so we ask that you set up your own reminders on your phone or calendar. It will continue to be your responsibility to contact us at least 2 business days beforehand if you will be unable to attend your appointment.

Covid 19 Update – Office Closure

Based on the best recommendation to date (linked to the current spread rate of COVID-19, availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), focus on supplies going to Front line Hospitals) we will be temporarily shutting down operations for the next two weeks, and we will re-assess week by week based on the Best Advice and Direction from the Minister of Health, the CDSBC and the BCDA starting this week

I am more interested in keeping all our valued clients and team members safe than risk exposure when it may be in the best interest of both patients and staff to manage pain symptoms and triage over the phone. Isolation, public distancing is key to flatten this curve fast and bring this under control and return to normal life. Any unnecessary exposure could not only expose a patient and my staff but also everyone’s family members; be the exposure in the grocery stores, public transportation, public areas, pharmacy or our clinic environment, even with the recommended disinfection protocols all have ramped up. We will beat this and we must work together to do so as no one gets ahead in life on their own … it is a concerted team effort even if the team is made up of two or our entire global community!

We will have to assess the best time to be available in the clinic for emergency treatment that can not be managed by calling in prescriptions, or over the phone and those will be judged on a case by case bases and under the scrutiny of the strict guidelines in place for emergency dental care in this Province.

We only wish the best outcomes for all at this time on all health care fronts, and at the family and community level.

I will be avail by cell phone and text either at the time of the call/text or shortly after.

To everyone’s continued good health and to the next time we can congregate and have a few drinks, a bite to eat, and thank our team of community members for doing their part to beat this and carry on with life, making memories and taking on new challenges and experiences!

COVID 19 Health and Wellness Prevention Steps

As per the COVID-19/CoronaVirus Recommendations from the BCDA, CDSBC, and BC Public Health Recommendations, we have added the following notifications and posted at the entry to and within our Clinic (See images)

Although most will be able to successfully deal with this virus, and other viruses in the past (mad cow, SARS just to name a few that have been in the media), we wish to ensure everyone we are following protocols to help reduce everyone’s risks! These protocols are for the most part, not new as they are part of the “Universal Precautions” and “Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines” which have been in place well before this current outbreak risk has arisen!

However, in stepping up public awareness we have added the recommended posters to remind all of the concerns and preventive measures the Health Authorities at are recommending.

Vancouver Island Motorcar Weekend (Formerly Motorcar) and Dr. Tatra have raised $180,000 for Charity, helping kids on Vancouver Island

Dr. Tatra is a well-known fan of the Motorcar weekend fundraiser, participating each year to help raise awareness and funds for children and families on Vancouver Island to support families with medical related expenses that are not covered by, or as, a medical expense.

Welcome Flosser – Our New Therapy Dog!!

Do dental appointments make you stressed, and uneasy? Well now they don’t have to!

Dr. Sunny Tatra, and Team are very excited to announce the newest member of their dental family, a Furry French Bulldog named FLOSSER!
Flosser is a Registered Therapy Dog who has helped greatly to ease, and comfort nervous, or anxious patients, with his sweet, and loving presence. So far the response from everyone has been great, and we are now receiving appointment requests on Flosser’s days at the office (which he couldn’t be happier about!). So feel free to make an appointment, and come in to meet the newest member of our team!
